Job description:

The Smithton District Hospital are seeking a motivated Ward Clerk to join their team.

The Role:

The Smithton District Hospital are seeking a motivated Ward Clerk to join their team. 

In accordance with established policies and procedures relating to the clinical, financial, and administrative requirements, the Ward Clerk provides:

  • High quality customer-focused reception services.
  • Administration and clerical support across all areas of the relevant district hospital   
  • This position is to provide weekend admin coverage for the hospital

The Team:

Smithton District Hospital (SDH) and Community Health Centre is a small sub-acute public hospital situated in Smithton, Tasmania, serving the entire Circular Head region with a catchment population of 8,000. The hospital features 12 subacute beds dedicated to general medicine, post-acute care, palliative care, and end-of-life services. Additionally, SDH includes a 3-bay emergency first response unit staffed by nurses and General Practitioners who provide on-call medical services.

Details of appointment:

Permanent, part time, shift worker, working 32 hours per fortnight, commencing from December 2024.

*notwithstanding hours to be negotiated with the successful applicant.

Applicants should note that, for a period of twelve months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill subsequent or similar full time, part time, and casual vacancies.

Salary: $64,125 to $68,925 pro rata, per annum. Our Employer 11.5% superannuation contribution is on top of this amount.

  • Salary range is in accordance with Public Sector Union Wages Agreement 2022

Allowances: 

You’ll have access to salary package a range of benefits including living expenses up to $9,010 + $2,650 in meal entertainment each FBT year + other benefits if eligible.

In addition, the following allowances calculated on the salaried incremental point may be available:

  • Remote and Rural Professional Development Allowance of an additional salary allowance of 4%
