Job description:
The purpose of the role is to provide property valuation and consultative advice to the Valuer-General and stakeholders on a State-wide basis.
About the role
This permanent position is open to graduate and more experienced valuers. There is opportunity for accelerated advancement from Band 1 to Band 2 under the Professional Stream based on knowledge, skills and experience.
As a Valuer, you will:
- Complete statutory valuations and assist with quality assurance checking of valuations on a statewide basis.
- Review valuations for statutory rating purposes, sale, purchase and rental of property undertaken by contract Valuers, on behalf of the Valuer-General.
- Liaise with government agencies, councils, contractors and public bodies on Office of the Valuer-General objectives, activities and valuation policy.
- Undertake client valuation and compulsory acquisition valuations across Tasmania when required and participate in negotiations towards settlement.
- Contribute to an ongoing review of work practices and implement improvements.

Hours per fortnight
73.50 hours per fortnight (minimum 58.80 hours, by negotiation).
Essential requirements
Band 1:
- A Degree in Business Studies (or similar), majoring in property valuations.
- A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
Band 2:
- A Degree in Business Studies (or similar), majoring in property valuations.
- Meet the necessary qualifications to practice as a Land Valuer in accordance with the Land Valuers Act 2001.
- A current motor vehicle driver’s licence.
Desirable requirements
Band 1:
- Working experience in statutory rating valuations.
Band 2:
- Working experience in statutory rating valuations and compulsory property acquisition valuations.
