Job description:

• Ensure that all client services and programs are undertaken in a therapeutic, safe and secure environment and conform to Agency principles, practices, standards and legislation relevant to youth justice services. • Participate in the development, promotion and implementation of operational standards and practices for youth justice services. • Develop and contribute to an effective operational team environment through communication, support, mentoring, guidance and constructive feedback. • Provide leadership to youth workers that displays high levels of ethical and professional behaviour to ensure a safe, secure therapeutic care environment for young people and staff.

Duties

Period of Appointment

Permanent, ongoing.  Full-time and part-time position available

Applicants should be aware that for twelve (12) months from the date of publication, this selection process may be used to fill any subsequent full-time or part-time vacancies in accordance with Employment Direction 1.

Hours per fortnight

76 hours and 45 hours per fortnight

Essential Requirements

  • Current Tasmanian Registration to Work with Vulnerable People (Registration Status – Employment)
  • The Head of the State Service has determined that the person nominated for this job is to satisfy a pre-employment check before taking up the appointment, on promotion or transfer. The following checks are to be conducted:  
  1. Conviction checks in the following areas:
    1. crimes of violence
    2. sex related offences
    3. serious drug offences
    4. crimes involving dishonesty
    5. serious traffic offences
  2. Identification check
  3. Disciplinary actions in previous employment check

Desirable Requirements

Formal educational qualifications relevant to the provision of services for young people.
